Private off-piste lessons in Chamonix
Off-piste lessons in Chamonix for skiers and snowboarders ready to leave the pistes, from your first turns in untracked snow to steeper slopes. I teach every lesson myself, for you alone or your own group, and I provide the safety kit. The price is the same as on piste.

Is it for you?
If you ski red pistes with confidence, you're ready to start. You don't need any off-piste experience: we begin on gentle slopes close to the lifts and build from there. If you already ski off-piste, we work on what you want to improve: steeper terrain, variable snow, linking turns in powder.
Not at ease on reds yet? On-piste lessons are the best first step.
How an off-piste day works
I choose the area from the snow, the avalanche risk and your experience, so the day is both enjoyable and safe. The request form asks a few questions about your off-piste experience for that reason.
I provide an avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe for each person, and I show you how to use them. If off-piste isn't possible that day, we move the lesson to another day or, if no other day suits you, we work on your technique on the pistes.
What I can and can't do
As a French state-qualified ski instructor, I’m allowed to teach on and off-piste, with one legal limit: no unmarked glacier terrain and no route that requires mountaineering techniques such as ropes and harnesses. That rules out the Vallée Blanche. For that kind of terrain, the right professional is a high mountain guide.
For full days, I also teach off-piste in neighbouring resorts, Courmayeur and Verbier included, within the same limits.
Off-piste on a snowboard
I also teach off-piste on a snowboard, at the same price. Skiers and snowboarders learn differently, so they're taught in separate lessons. I don't teach splitboarding.
Prices
Off-piste costs the same as on piste: €310 for a half day (4 hours) and €510 for a full day (7 hours), for 1 to 3 people. From the 4th person, add €15 per person, up to 8. Over Christmas and the February holidays, I only teach full days.
Several days off-piste
Over several days, we can build from one goal to the next and choose each day's area according to the snow. Each day is charged at the normal lesson price.
